Case Study: Palombi Claudia, Fiori di Bach, Italy

1. Company Background

Claudia leaves nearby Lecco near the Valtellina area in Lombardy. Is a pre-Alps territory on a lake with a magnificent nature and beautiful landscape. Is also very well-known touristic destination.

Claudia had a small library before but the business was not successful, since she couldn’t retain clients. From this business failure and her passion for nature, health and well-being she decided to study naturopathy. Three years ago, she created “Fiori di Bach” an individual company through which Claudia operates as a consultant of natural, non-invasive and self-healing practices through natural products, such as herbs and homeopathic preparations.

Claudia takes her practice very seriously and she doesn’t want to substitute her advice to those of the doctors. She specifies this to her clients every time. Instead, she promoted a healthy lifestyle and to avoid bad behaviours while eating or doing daily things.

Claudia declares she struggled a lot at the beginning of her activity as people were a bit reluctant and sceptic about this practice. But slowly people understood her way of conducing the activities and started to trust her services.

2. Have you worked with our organisation previously?

Claudia met Eurocrea Merchant staff during a dissemination event of the INVEST project one year ago. The event was about financial education and entrepreneurship. She participated as she was in need of support for some training on financial issues, such as business planning, basic financial rules and possible improvements through digital tools for finance. We approached Claudia again as she is always willing to improve her knowledge and we were sure some digital competences were helpful for her.

3. What were the highlights of the course? Strengths?

The course – Claudia says – is very straight to the point. There are very few spaces for theory and more information on real life practice or practical advices which were beneficial for the status of development of her business.

4. Impact - How has being on the course helped you as an individual?

Claudia affirms that the course was the occasion to take a moment for herself and learn something new. This is something that you don’t get the occasion to do in your daily life very easily.

5. Impact - How has being on the course helped your business?

It has given me the opportunity to deepen my knowledge especially about digital issues which are more distant to everyday issues, such as big data and cybersecurity.

6. Is there anything you do now in your business that you wouldn’t have otherwise done?

I wouldn’t consider to use some mobile solutions, which for the moment are a little bit too advanced for my business but I would like to get there.

7. Would you recommend the course/online platform to other people?

8. Have you had any recent successes in your business?

I have increased my clients thanks to the participation in some events as expert in naturopathy.

9. Any new innovations in your business, particularly regarding digital technologies?

Yes, I will start exploring the use of cloud systems for some activities I am running.

10. Any advice that you would offer other businesses

Don’t think that the most expensive device is what you need. Think smart and understand what you really need before buying something.
